About

  • Our Beginning

Spring Place Church had a humble beginning. In the mid-fifties, Margueretta and Willard Calfee bought a chicken house off of Johnson Blvd. in southeast Cleveland, and began a community Sunday School. On May 11, 1957, after a revival conducted by Buford Johnson, the church was organized as the Spring Place Church of God of Prophecy. The name was somewhat prophetic since the church was on Washington Avenue, but in 1975, eight acres of land were purchased on Spring Place Road, and the present church and parsonage were dedicated in August, 1978. The theme of the dedication was "From the Chicken House to the Sanctuary." Hundreds of souls have been blessed, and pastors and overseers have been sent out from this church.

  • Our Belief

Our belief at Spring Place is that we all stand in need of God's grace and mercy, which are distributed by God through people, who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, lovingly serve one another.

  • Our Mission

Our mission at Spring Place is to follow after Christ's example in loving those he encountered on a daily basis. We seek to be in the community a place of strength for the weak, hope for the hopeless, and rest for the restless. At the end of the day, we want everyone to encounter God's love for them as we have experienced it ourselves.
